Quantitative trait loci mapping reveals the complexity of adult plant resistance to leaf rust in spring wheat ‘Copio’

چکیده

Abstract The spring wheat ( Triticum aestivum L.) line ‘Copio’ has exhibited high level of adult plant resistance (APR) to the leaf rust Puccinia triticina ) pathogen in Mexico during field evaluations. To elucidate genetic basis Copio, 176 F 4 ‐derived 6 ‐recombinant inbred lines (RILs) from a cross ‘Apav’ and Copio were phenotyped for two seasons United States Mexico. A total 762 genotyping‐by‐sequencing (GBS) single nucleotide polymorphic (SNP) markers used develop linkage maps. Composite interval mapping identified seven quantitative trait loci (QTL), all contributed by Copio. Three QTL on chromosome arms 1BL QLr.umn‐1B ), 2AS QLr.umn‐2A 3BS QLr.umn‐3B consistently expressed across four environments. represents Lr46 , which is pleiotropic APR gene, while colocated Lr37 gene 2NS/2AS translocation fragment. 3BS, mapped Sr2/Yr30/Lr27 genomic region, more likely be unique locus conferring races because phenotyping environments had Lr27 virulent pathotypes. Moreover, functionality complimented Lr31 4BS, lacking both parents. Marker haplotypes RILs carrying combination alleles at three loci. This reduced coefficient infection up 52 36% Mexican U.S. environments, respectively. study reports complex mechanism its importance as potential source pyramiding through recombination breeding.

Detection of quantitative trait loci associated with leaf rust resistance in bread wheat.

Leaf rust, caused by Puccinia recondita Rob. ex Desm., is a common disease in wheat. The objective of this study was to develop molecular markers associated with the quantitative trait loci (QTLs) putatively conferring durable leaf rust resistance in Triticum aestivum L. em. Thell. A population of 77 recombinant inbred lines (RILs) developed from 'Parula' (resistant) and 'Siete Cerros' (moderat...

Genome-Wide Association Study Reveals Novel Quantitative Trait Loci Associated with Resistance to Multiple Leaf Spot Diseases of Spring Wheat

Accelerated wheat development and deployment of high-yielding, climate resilient, and disease resistant cultivars can contribute to enhanced food security and sustainable intensification. To facilitate gene discovery, we assembled an association mapping panel of 528 spring wheat landraces of diverse geographic origin for a genome-wide association study (GWAS). All accessions were genotyped usin...

Quantitative trait loci for seedling and adult plant resistance to Stagonospora nodorum in wheat.

Stagonospora nodorum blotch (SNB) caused by Stagonospora nodorum is a severe disease of wheat (Triticum aestivum) in many areas of the world. S. nodorum affects both seedling and adult plants causing necrosis of leaf and glume tissue, inhibiting photosynthetic capabilities, and reducing grain yield. The aims of this study were to evaluate disease response of 280 doubled haploid (DH) individuals...

Quantitative trait loci mapping of panicle traits in rice

In this study 90 individuals of recombinant inbred lines (RILs) were developed by crossing subspecies of japonica rice cultivar, ‘Nagdong’ and an indica type cultivar, ‘Cheongcheong’. These individuals were used to identify the quantitative trait loci of panicle traits using SSR markers. A genetic linkage map was constructed using one hundred fifty four simple sequence repeat ...
